Brown stripe on the nail (toe)

Hello to everybody!

I'm "white race".
On one of my toes (nail, toe next to big toe), there is a thin dark/brown line/stripe flowing paralell to the regular growth. Since half year or year. I went to the physician, she said it is 99% nail mole, benign and nevertheless I should do "dermatoskopia"...

What is cause of nail mole? Can it grow away?
I start running intensively last year and sometimes I was using snickers half number smaller then usual. Could it be cause of this? What should I do about it? ( stop running, keep from any kind of mild punch etc ..)

PS I am sorry for my bad english

Re: Brown stripe on the toe

Trauma to the matrix can cause a nail mole to grow within itself - wearing shoes too small can cause the trauma as well as the too-small shoes. Usually nila moles will grow on their own and there is no specific cause for them. They are also usually benign. Your doctor is telling you that the only way to get rid of it is to perform surgery to remove it; however, this iwll permanently damage the natural nail growth, if a nail grows at all.

Re: Brown stripe on the toe

HI
I've been reading about nails and i've gotten curious about a really light black strip on my thumb. It been there for ages and it's actually on the nail. Like, i doubt it's on the nail bed because when i trim my nail the piece is like darkened. If that makes sense.
There's also a strip on my toenail... the big toe... and it's slightly to the left. This one's slightly darker but not much darker... still pretty light. I think a couple of years ago i accidently opened the door and hit my foot... there was blood but not that much. Could this be the reason?.... I mean it's still there and it doesn't appear to be on the nail bed.
I think there's also a really light strip on my smallest toe.
Are any of these a signal of bad organs or something?? I mean i have gotten freaked out of the possibilities of cancer!! After all I am a teenager!!!! Please don't tell me it's something serious

Re: Brown stripe on the toe

Only your doctor can tell you if it is a nail mole or not. A nail mole grows in the matrix underneath the skin at the top of the nail. It will discolor the nail plate, which is why it doesn't appear to be on the nail bed. You should see your physician for a proper diagnosis.
