really painful toe - Nail Problems Message Board

Hi I am new to this but I have a common problem.

I got an ingrown toenail (big toe right foot).I thought it was not a problem so just kept checking for a week.Then it got red hot and leaking pus Friday 6th oct it woke me up in pain.

I saw the doctor monday he said it was infected and gave me flucloxocillin 500mg 4 x daily on the 9th.It cleared and I went back for check up it has proud flesh growing over the nail.I went back tuesday 17th to be referred for nail removal and they cant do it till end November. Thursday the infection came back I have bathed it used antiseptic dressed it because it bleeds.

Today over the last 3-4 hours its got severely painful and the redness has travelled up my toe.It started to ache and now it has travelled up my leg just below my knee and is agony .Any suggestions ?

I seriously suggest that you go to the emergency room and have it looked at. You may have developed blood poisoning if there is a red line traveling up your leg.
