toenail problem - Nail Problems Message Board

stubbed big toe on door over a wk ago & it was bleeding & a few days ago was a clear drainage as well as the stupid pain. looks like top part of nail is gonna be falling off pretty soon. been keeping it cleaned with peroxide & antibiotic cream, also am leaving any bandages off during day time so that air may get to it better but at night time I have to keep somthing on it or my bed sheets keep snagging at it & waking me up. Should I let it fall of by its self or cut it off. thanks susie

As long as it isn't painful anymore, you can cut off as much as you can without hurting yourself. Be sure to file the edge so it is smooth as possible. Keep it clean though so infection does not have a chance to set in.
