Re: Why Do Toenails Curl

It depends entirely on HOW they are curling. If they are curling inward and pinching the nail bed, it could be from a fungal infection.

Re: Why Do Toenails Curl?

Thank you, I thought it was, and so did my Pedicurist, since I only have one toenail curling now and when she started doing my pedicures I had several toenails curling. She has all but one laying flat. She gave me a liquid to apply twice daily, something she told me was only available to techs, but I had an adverse reaction to it and stopped using it.
My Nail Tech told me they were being told to soak in Listerine and apply Vicks VaporRub twice daily. So far no change but I've only been using it about 3 weeks.

Re: Why Do Toenails Curl

Your nail tech is not allowed by law to diagnose nail diseases or disorders. She is only allowed to tell you what she suspects and then to send you to your doctor for a proper diagnosis. She is also not allowed by law to work on nails that are infected unless she has been given written permission to do so by your doctor. If she is treating the disorder (infection) and something goes wrong, she is leaving herself wide open for a lawsuit. She should know all of this!!!!

If she does not properly sanitize her instruments, implements, files and drill bits after she works on you, she can spread the infection to all of her clients.

You shold see your physician for a proper diagnosis before you do anything else.
