Ok, for some reason three of my nails are peeling from the base not the free end (i think thats the right term to use)
Well now my one nail the pointer finger on my right hand has now peeled all the way up to the free end, and now my nail is soft and really weak.. Help??

the only thing i can think of that could be the problem is dehydration, as i have just moved to a much warmer climax then i'm used too... midwest to deep deep south..
and i have noticed that i'm dehydrated a lot, but trying to fix that by hydrating but just can't seem to catch up... i'll make an appointment with my doctor next week and see if they can help me.. thank you
When the nail plate peels from the cuticle area (the Matrix), then the Matrix has been compromised in some way. It's best to get it checked out by a professional and your dermatologist would be your best choice.
Is your skin and hair dried out as well? If not, that's why I suspect it's not just hydration.
Yes my skin has been really dry and so has my hair, but i have been using mositurized Shampoo and Condinter, and have been trying to put lots of lotion on my skin, but my nails have just been going to ****, BUT like i said i will be calling my doctor today and making an appiontment with them
For your skin, you can get these essential oils on-line or from your local health food store:
Jojoba OIl, Rice Bran Oil or Almond Oil, Grapeseed Oil and Vitamin E
6oz Almond Oil or Rice Bran Oil
4oz Jojoba Oil
1oz Grapeseed Oil
1/2 oz Vitamin E
Mix these togeher in a large bowl and then pour the mixture into a bottle with a screw on cap. You can store it in the fridge to keep it fresh. Pour about 3-4 ounces into an applicator bottle and apply to your skin twice a day. You can use this on your face, your skin and your nails. Do not apply so much that it cannot soak into the skin.
For your hair, mix 2 tablespoons of conditioner (not the instant kind) with 2 teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar - mix really well. Apply to clean, towel dried hair, comb through to distribute evenly, cover with a plastic cap and leav on for a full 30 minutes. Rinse really well and towel dry. Always use your blow dryer set on medium heat. Apply this mixture once a week. For the rest of the week, try to use a 'leave-in' conditioner such as Infusium 23. (Sally Beauty Supply)
