I have had problem toenails for years and doctors can't seem to tell me what the problem is. My middle toe on each foot is affected with a white substance growing under the nail which pushes the tip of the nail up as the white stuff grows. Recently a dermatologist scraped and tested the substance and he said it was not fungus. Many years ago I had a non-fungal problem with a toenail and a dermatologist prescribed a prescription strength alcohol applied every morning and an antibiotic ointment every night. It cured whatever it was. It's been so long ago I'm not sure if I had the same symptoms then. I no longer live in that city and the dermatologist is undoubtedly retired by now, as that was back in the early seventies. Any ideas anyone?
