| Re: question about pen lac
The first thing you need to understand about fungal infection of the nail is that the spores live deep within the skin of the nail bed as well as deep within the layers of the nail plate. Fungal spores are very hard to kill because of this. Treatment can take upwards of a year for all the spores to be 'killed'. If you used Dr. G's and did not follow the instructions of twice daily applications until the infection was gone, then no, you won't see results. Treating a nail infection is a total committment of application and cleaning the debris out from under the area of separation so it does not build up.
As for PenLac, I don't see how it can work effectively because it cannot penetrate through all the layers of nail plate to get to the infection in the nail bed. Oral meds work best, but one also has to apply topical treatments. I still recommend Dr. G's or Lamasil, although there are plenty other OTC meds that will work just as well if you are diligent in your applications.
