I have started using Thymol Compound for my fingernail fungus and I have a question. Should I use it with or without wearing nail polish? I forgot to ask my dr and I can't get in touch with him so easily. Hopefully you can answer this for me.
Also, have you had any experience with Thymol? If so, does it work well? My fungus has lasted forever and NOTHING has cured it yet!
Thymol will eventually work - it is also the active ingredient in Vick's VapoRub, which is why many people choose to use the Vicks. Thymol will 'melt' the nail polish and leave it kind of sticky, so I wouldn't wear it while you are using Thymol.
If you have access to a nail technician that can order you some Formula 3 by the Tetra Corporation, that would be much better. It is formulated with Tolnaftate which works much better than Thymol. Thymol works better for bacterial infection of the nails, such as Pseudomonas, but like I said, it will eventually work on the fungus if you are diligent with your applications.
Marti, I have been using Amoresse Thymol for a few days now and it seems to absorb into the nail very rapidly, but when I wake up the next morning the nail is white.
It washes off very easily and the thymol doesn't turn the nail white when I use it in the morning, only when I wake up from having used it right before bed. Any reason why?
