Horizontal Ridges in fingernails.

On both of my thumbs I have horizontal ridges. They showed up at first just one ridge that was smooth, than more kept coming. Now both my thumb nails have these ridges and there deep and rough. They have a darker tint to them kind of browish yellow. My nail will grow and they continue to be there. my nail at the tip is actually starting to indent with all the ridges. It start at the top of the nail. I would like to know what I can do to fix this problem because everyone notices it and it and I cant get rid of it.

Re: Horizontal Ridges in fingernails.

Nail problems can be indicative of a serious vitamin deficiency (often one of the B vitamins). You might want to run it past your doc next time.

Go see you dr. - preferably a holistic one - and get some bloodwork done. I started having the same problem a year or so ago and had bloodwork showing deficiency of iron, vit d, mag and was hypothyroid. I don't know which of these causes what you have, but one of them causes it.
