Big Toe Nail

About 2-3 weeks ago I ran over my foot with a shopping cart right over my big toe. It turned black about half a week later and then the other day I was examining it and all of the blood under it came out. For the last 3-4 days there has been a gap between most of my nail and the nail bed and then finally tonight the left half of my nail broke off (the damaged half that was separated) My nail bed at the base has a white spot lower than the nail bed that is hard. Could it be the new nail growing in? its about 1/10 mm lower than the nail bed and not very far out towards the tip of the toe, maybe 1/2 mm out as far as I can see it. When I first saw it I was scared that it may be bone but I highly doubt that. I'm a little concerned as how to best take care of the nail bed so I don't get any infections. I soaked it for a couple of minutes in peroxide, then put neosporin antibiotic on it then wrapped it in a bandage. Is this the correct method to take care of it?
