Angry Removed entire toenail

About 6 months ago, I had a procedure to remove an ingrown toenail that wasn't performed correctly. Subsequently my toe became severely infected and as a result had to have the entire nail removed from the toe (not permanently) in order to clean out the infection from under the nail. Now, 3 months later, the nail has grown about 30 % of the way but it is growing into the flesh and skin that is in the front of the toe. It has become an ingrown toenail again but this time from the front rather than from the side. I had a 3rd procedure to trim the nail because iit was digging into the flesh and now the podiatrist is saying that I might need to permanently remove the toenail because he doesn't see how the nail will be able to grow over the flesh in the front. I really don't want to lose my toenail permanently - anyone has any advice, experiences, anything that would be an alternative? Any bit would be appreciated.

Did you ever find an answer I have the same problem after my nail came off. it hasn't reached the end of my toe, but looks like it it growing into the flesh at the end (like an ingrown nail but at the front). I haven't yet been to the doctor because I don't know if it will rectify itself with time.
I have heard about people using fake acrylic nails to "guide" new nail growth but it might be a bit late for that. Has anybody else had this experience? Or any advice?

Re: Removed entire toenail

Have the same experience, but I didn't go to a specialists because I know they will remove my nails. I just trim it myself even if it hurts so bad. Until now my nails get trauma (hurts when bumped).
