separated nail from nail bed

about an hour ago I smashed my pinkie finger in the door and it cracked my nail all the way throught the acrylic and through my real nail all the way to the flesh. It's not dangling off, but if I snagged it on something good enough it would probably rip it completely off. Should I leave it alone and let it grow back together or go ahead and take it off so it can start fresh?
Thanks!
