I just noticed today how bad my middle finger on my right hand looks. The skin has receded a good amount compared to my left middle finger which looks fine. Last week I did notice that some small pieces of skin were peeling on my right middle finger and they were kind of painful so I bit them off gently. I left it alone and didn't really look at it till today and now there is a big change.
There are pictures in the attachments. They aren't great quality but you can see the difference.

I don't know what is happening to my finger but it looks scary and I just want to know what it is so I can stop worrying so much. I also wanted to let you know that I do bite my fingernails and my hands are usually dry from washing my hands and not using lotion like I should. Thank you.

My fingers do it too. It's normal, but stop messing with them. do not BITE them off. Simply cut them off with cuticle trimmers and let them be. They will fix themselves. Alot if it has to do with dry skin. Dont put lotion on it because it will burn and you'll risk getting an infection. If you want, to stop yourself from messing with it, put something over them to protect it. Thats what i did for a while, like at night.

I seem to be having the same symptom on my right thumb. Were you able to treat this? Did the skin grow back? Thanks.

It has been a while since I posted this but my finger did go back to normal after a while. I can't remember how long it took because I wasn't keeping track. It did get better though.
