| Paronychia or something else?
I have this problem that I get once every couple of years and always on the same finger. It's like an infection along the side of my nail (not the cuticle along the bottom of my nail). It usually happens after I pick at it when it looks like there's loose skin or a part of my nail sticking out there. Then it swells slightly and hurts to the touch. Within a day or two, I pull the flesh of my finer along the nail to the side and push on it, and a little "bubble" of green pus comes out.
So anyway, I have one of these now. I was able to squeeze a tiny bit of pus out of it yesterday, and it continued to hurt. I squeezed it a few more times yesterday but nothing else came out. But this morning I gave it a squeeze again and some green pus came out of it again.
I looked it up online, and the first results that all came up were for Paronychia. But all the sites I read and all the pictures I saw look like it usually occurs along the cuticle at the bottom of the nail, not along the sides.
Is this something different? I soaked it in soapy water for 15 minutes like they suggest, and I'll do it a few more times today.
Does anyone have any thoughts on it?
Thanks!
