Thumb nail diagnosis
My thumb nail has been weird for a year now. To begin with I thought I had a fungal infection. I tried Bactraban, Tea tree oil, Vicks (Thymol) without much difference. I recently had a manicure and the therapist said if it was fungal it would be brown/greenish and crumbly...and it isn't. She thought it was an injury.
My nail-bed looks fine most of the time. The main problem is the tip (white part). So, from the tip of my nail down about 1cm of my nail is the problem. It has a wriggly line going across the nail (in a healthy nail it would be a a straight line that demarks the 'white' area at the tip of your nail). This wriggly line demarks the white area, which is more creamy than the other nails, and is not straight across - it goes down on one side. It sometimes has a brownish line demarking the creamy bit.
Some times my nail hurts. Sometimes down by the moon of the nail it looks slightly purple, but other days it looks fine. On the days my nail hurts I can see what look like faint pink spots - then when my nail doesn't hurt they are gone.
There used to be debris under the nail, but I cut it very short, cleaned it out, and it is now oK.
Is there anyway I can post a photo to show you?
