tiny black spot on toe nail & fingernail

Recently i noticed that my left big toe got 2 tiny black spot like eyes on the smily face icon. there's also a tiny spot, seemed like the same type on my left fore finger. i tried to wash it to no avail, wait till the nail long enough to cut it away, but it never reached the part that i can cut....
I've been searching about black spots on nails on various website, but nothing match my condition, as it doesn't seems like fungal infections or melanoma, because it's very small & doesn't grow. Someone who has the answer or any advice please help me...Thanks

Re: tiny black spot on toe nail & fingernail

Hi Welcome to health boards!

Sometimes people have splinter hemmorhages under the nail and it is a symptom of a problem. Of course a health professional could evaluate it properly. sjb

Re: tiny black spot on toe nail & fingernail

Hi,
Yours is an interesting question as its the first I have heard this.
Many people have the opposite (White) spots under the nail. It's possible you have knocked your nails at some tome or other and they have bled under the nail.
I'm sure its nothing to worry about but you could mention it next time you are at the Drs.

Solofelix.

Re: tiny black spot on toe nail & fingernail

Hi I am sorry to say that some conditions which make small dark dots or lines under the nails can be evidence of serious things such as endocarditis, systemic lupus erythematosus, trichinosis, scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, trauma, psoritiatic nails, and antiphospholipid condition. sjb
