finger nails - Nail Problems Message Board

I can only go my finger nails out about 1/8 out and the ends start getting wavy and kind of collapes. The rest of my finger nail looks good. Color is pinkish and a ripple here and there on a few fingers, I think that the ripples are caused from shutting fingers in doors. But the fingers that have the wavy tips have no dents in the pink part of the nail. What can I do?
Do they need strengthers? What products out there are good for that?

Not a very good description, however; I am assuming that the nail plate takes a severe downward turn once it grows beyond the free edge. Is there a dip in the center of the nail plate at the free edge as it takes the downward turn? Is this what you mean by "wavy"? Is your nail plate naturally thin? Do you have any type of health concern at the moment that you are aware of? Has the nail plate always looked like this, or is it a recent occurance? Sorry for all the questions, but I need a little more information in order to help you.

sorry to be so vauge.
the part that sticks out past the finger (free edge) I assume. It dips and the end turns under. Look at it from the side and the nail looks wavy. starts out looking normal growing out and then it dips down the tip curls under and then goes back up to finish looking normal.
I don't have any health concerns that I know of. all of my other fingers nail look pretty good. My nails are a little thin(weak) but I think they are pretty close to normal.

If this don't help explain it any better, don't worry about trying to help because I don't know the much about nails.

That description helped! If it only effecting certain fingers, you might want to see your internist as sometimes, this is due to some sort of internal medical problem. A friend of mine has this on all the fingers of her right hand, but not the thumb. She ended up having to have heart by-pass surgery. You might also want to see a dermatologist to be sure it isn't some sort of infection that I don't now about. Some infections lie deep into the nail bed and may seem like nothing, but can cause nail plate disfigurement. I would get it checked out if I were you.
