Revlon Nailpolish - Nail Problems Message Board

Thank you! That's to all of you who have posted on these boards (but I can't find the original thread) about nail polish that lasts and doesn't chip.
I've been so careful in the past with using a base coat, then 2 coats of nail polish, and then a top coat, and waiting a few minutes in between each to be sure it was dry.
Then, even a couple of hours later, my nails would somehow get wrecked.
So.... after reading the posts about Revlon's ColorStay Always On nail colours, I picked some up. It was on sale, too!

This stuff is awesome! I'm gonna have to buy more colours.... I DID end up messing up a couple of nails a day or two later, but my nails go through a lot, especially at work.

So, thanks again to those of you who recommended it (and thanks Revlon!).

Mostly, the reason nail polish doesn't last on the fingernails is due to the natural oil & moisture content in the nail plate. You can also temporarily dehydrate the nail plate and remove the surface oils by cleaning each nail with a lint-free wipe saturated in acetone. the drying effect will last about 30 minutes, which is plenty of time for the polish to properly adhere to the nail plate surface.

Also, each time you have your hands in water for more than 3 minutes allows for the inter-connecting bands between the nail plate cells to stretch beyond their limit and they will break. When this happens, it will also crack and chip the nail polish. I sugest also wearing gloves when having your hands in water for longer than 3 minutes and whenever using any type of household cleaning solution. Your polish will last much longer as well if you apply either Solar Oil or Botanical Oil and massage into the cuticle and the nail plate (polish) at least twice daily. Doing this is kind of like waxing your car - it will 'fill-in' any tiny invisible scratches in the nail polish, condition the nail plate and alow the polish to remain flexible which will prevent cracking and chipping.
