Thumbs up Thumbnail removed due to Paronychia

Dear Marti can you please explain to me how a nail grows back after having been removed (due to paronychia which was diagnosed too late by my doctor)?
The entire nail had to be removed and the eponychial fold (cuticle) is kind of folded back currently under the bandage I have over my whole thumb. How will the nail grow? Does the fold not have to be put back in its normal position? Thanks for your help
