Aro

Hi! I'm new here. I'm glad to see I'm not alone in this (& I wish you all luck!). For three years I've had this mysterious pain in my neck until I took an mri the other day (my second) & found out I have a disc prolapse/herniated disc in my c5-6.

The report reads:

There is straightening of the normal cervical lordosis. The vertebral bodies appear normal in height and signal. There is no abnormal signal in the surrounding soft tissues or within the spinal cord.

The c5-6 disc demonstrates normal height and signal. There is focal central disc herniation creating a ventral extradural defect. The neuroforamen are patent.

Everything else reads:

The (c#-#) disc demonstrates normal height and signal. There is no budge or herniation. There is no central stenosis or foraminal impingement.

Final Impression:

Straightening of the normal cervical lordosis with central herniation at c5-6. Findings are similiar in comparison to prior examination.

I went about the net, everything seems to read fine except the c5-6 herniation(as in the only problem I really have is the c5-6 herniation) . But am I right, does anyone have any real idea what these diagnosis reads for sure?

I've tried everything around the block to help this neck pain, which is about three years now. Nothing's worked, except after my year's worth of chiro visits, it seems that my cervical neck spine is straighter than before. He reported that the bones were already starting to fuse when I first saw him, & now it's stopped, so I understand, but I still have nervous pain, which is getting worse.

I've searched the net , talked to people, & read many books regarding this etc.I'm going to see my neurologist on June 2nd (he ordered both mri's). He's already tried me on celebrax and skelaton (such muscle relaxer & anitinflammatory), but I can't stand both, it only seems to make the pain worse (no more meds, done enough!). I'm almost ready to ask for surgery (the endomicro discectomy maybe )I'm really at the point where I'm beginning to lose feeling in right side of my body (& getting more miserable in general).

I've never had real experience in talking to a neurologist about this problem, but I'm pretty much ready to ask him for surgery. Does anyone have experience with neurologists? What should I tell/expect from him regarding this? What kinds of exams should they/do they take? Anyone with information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
