Neurologist For Nerve Entrapment In Foot - Neurology Message Board

Has anyone went to a Neurologist for a nerve entrapment in ball of foot due to Mortons Neuroma? I was given a series of 6 sclerosing injections for Mortons Neuroma about 6 months ago and ever since then my foot has felt a bit numb in the area the shots were given and I believe the nerves in my foot are damaged which is causing this nerve entrapment that I cannot seem to get relief from.

I have been to 2 podiatrists and also an orthopedic Dr. and have pretty much been told to deal with it since it is a nerve problem. I have an appointment with an neurologist in a week in hope that he can give me some answers since they deal with nerve problems.

I do not not want to even consider surgery. I have read about too many unhappy people who have had worse problems after surgery. I do not experience pain, only this annoying nerve entrapment. If anyone has had any experience with an neurologist and a foot problem such as mine I would like to hear your story.

A neuroma is a damaged nerve by definition so it's no surprise that you're lacking some feeling in that area. I just had one removed from my ankle that was wrapped up in scar tissue. I podiatrist did the surgery. There was no chance of it ever resolving on its own. I didn't have feeling in part of my foot and since the bad part of the nerve was removed I will never have feeling. But the pain will be gone and that was the goal.

I don't know if Morton's Neuromas go away if you stop squishing your feet. If they do then you might get your feeling back. If not, I doubt there's a whole lot a neurologist can do if you've already had 6 injections that didn't work. You may indeed have to live with it.

The weird part of all of this is that even though I was diagnosed with mortons neuroma, I have never experienced pain of any kind,. What I have experienced is this funky bunched up sock feeling and also a feeling of walking on eggshells. The injections were supposed to get rid of the funky feeling but instead they made it worse. I am hoping that possibly some type of ultrasound or therapy of some kind may help relieve some of this weird nerve entrapment.

been surffering with this condition since 2004. Please do not get the ligament release surgery. I had it and Iam still in pain 3 years later. Now dr wanted to remove the nerve but I am scared because I will lose the feeling in that part of my foot. I am a ballaet dancer as well. I take the pain but enjoy the dance. Lately it has become worse, so I just had an injection.

since you are early in the game, there is a dr that freeze the nerve, or I have heard of sugar injections as well. Too many injections is not good and sometimes the pain comes right back.

Since I had the surgery, injection is all I want at this point. I had an injection last year this time and it seems to have worked until now. Since last weeks injection I feel much better, a little pain but much better.
