Finding a Eastern Carribean Neurologist

I am relocating to Dominica in 2010 :jester: and need to research health care for my neurological disorder. Anyone have any leads for me to find what I'm looking for?

You should avoid the Medra Clinic. The BBC and others have been doing undercover documentaries on apparent scandals. Because you are moving from Washington, the first step would to inquire of any recommendation your current neurologist might have. You might also inquire with the MS society or association for referrals.

I found a listing in the Dominican Republic through the World Federation of Neurologists, but I do not know if this will help.

THANK YOU!! I will look in to that and will ask my Nr about this as well. I still hope to find someone I can visit annually, affordably.

I am so blessed that I still need to be seen by a Dr once a year!

PS JayHawk!? How long have you been Med Free? What were you on? I just became Med Free (Copaxone) a couple months ago and wonder if I will suddenly go down?? Your experience . . . please :p

Re: Finding a Eastern Carribean Neurologist

I was diagnosed in 1982 and never went on meds. I had no real problems from 1982-2002. In 2002 I went downhill suddenly and took disability. Until that time I was powerlifting and enjoying my family and career. There is no was to ascertain if you will go downhill. My visit with my neuro in June 2009 was my best visit since 2002. I use a passive exercycle and stretch. I also combat my MS by knowing and obeying my triggers and limitations. I also try to follow the Swank Diet. All-in-all I have had a good 32 years since symptom onset at 14 y.o. ; for me, according to my neuro, med-free works.
