Re buttocks feeling cold, rectum feeling full, for no reason
Hi. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this.
My internal med doc is hooking me up with a neurologist. Why? I have an unexplained fullness sensation in my rectum, but there's nothing in there since I had my rectum removed 20 years ago. (I had ulcerative colitis and now have an ileostomy for pooping. It has worked out well and saved my life.)
I also have an occasional moist, cold feeling around my buttocks and hips, off-on, intermittent. This has been happening for around a month or so.
The internal med doc could find no reason for this other than a nerve issue, and I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis 5-6 years ago, though I have learned to live it quite well---though it can make my legs tired. I am 58.
It doesn't hurt to see the neurologist, and I have an appt. skedded. But has anyone ever heard of this? Many thanks.

Hi, I just happened upon your post and wanted to suggest that it might be connected to your stenosis issues. You don't mention at what level is your stenosis....If it is lumbar, it is entirely possible that pain in the groin, and lower hip/buttocks area can be caused by some sort of irritation or compression of the lower lumbar spinal nerves.
If you don't get any answers from the neurologist, you might want to see a spinal specialist, either a neurosurgeon who primarily deals with back and neck issues, or an orthopedic spinal surgeon.
