Anterior Cingulate Cortex Affecting Vision?

Hi all,

I recently had a QEEG scan done, to try to determine the cause of a health problem I've had for over 9 years, which showed that I have a significant increase of 'slow wave' activity in the Anterior Cingulate Cortex and the Insular Cortex.

Apparently this is a region that regulates emotion so I suppose this scan indicates that the constant 'muscle tension' I feel along the left side of my head and left side of back is because the cingulate cortex is over active (I usually feel like I can never really relax, often feel 'on edge' and anxious so I suppose that is expressing itself physically in the form of muscle tension).

Another frustrating symptom is that I have a constant perception of the two sides of my nose concurrently as 'two distinctly separate transparent shadow images'. I've seen countless Opthamologists who have said that my eyes are fine and after the QEEG result I read online that when the Anterior Cingulate Cortex is being dysfunctional that it can affect nearby regions and prevent them from working properly, such as the vision cortex being able to interpret images correctly, so perhaps the ACC is the cause of this and my muscle tension symptoms?

So does it seem likely that both the chronic muscle tension and the strange constant perception of the two sides of my nose as 'two transparent shadow halves' is a result of an over active anterior cingulate cortex? I generally find it difficult to concentrate properly and do tend to have some OCD habits/ thoughts which are apparently a result of the ACC not functioning properly. And, if the ACC is the cause of my symptoms, can my health problem be permanently resolved?

Thank you.

About the nose - I have been having the same or similar sensation since childhood. I would notice it especially when I read and as soon as I notice it, the reading was over because this was all I could think of. This is like each side of the nose is separate and I will see it as a grey shadow from the different sides with each eye and it is so annoying. I have never told anyone since I figured people would tag me crazy and there was no point. I also have OCD (with the emphasis on "O") since as long as I can remember myself, and recently am dealing with horrible painful muscle spasms.
I have an appt with the psychiatrist tomorrow, is it something I can mention to her? Would be nice to know how to resolve it, too, since I can live with OCD and nose sensation, but muscle spasms are really bad.
