| | Fractured C7 Vertebrae / broken neck
I was hit by a car and I broke my C7 vertebrae on June 5th this year (2011). Additionally, I had damage to my left shoulder. I spent 4 days in hospital and wore a Miami J brace for 9-10 weeks. On September 21st, I woke up with an electrical sensation down both arms equally. The sensation was down my forearms to my fingers and the chopping part of my hand. I can control the intensity of the sensation by nodding my head. The closer my chin goes to my chest, the higher the intensity. Today (October 16), this sensation down my arms is faint but still controllable by nodding. Yesterday, I woke with a sharp pain on the left hand side of my back (higher than my kidney but lower than my shoulder blade). I've puled enough muscles in my time to know what that feels like. This pain feels like a scratch wound but there is not scratch. Additionally, I have a pain on my lower left hand side rib and a sharp pins and needles feeling when I press my fingers in between my left shoulder socket and pectoralis major. This pins and needles sensation is in the location I'm pressing but also shoots up the side and back of my neck.
I have a consultant but things are very slow on the UK NHS and admin staff cause 8 week delays without a second thought. I'm only 38 and used to being active, fit and healthy. I'm not quite ready to write myself off. Any advice or good questions to put to my consultant would be much appreciated. My goal is to start physio as soon as possible.
