| What can be done for NMH?
I was recently diagnosed with Neurally Mediated Hypotension. Is there any treatment to alleviate this SOB, sweating, inability to walk or stand beyond very few minutes? Please help.
My cardiologist said my symptoms so classic for NMH that there's no need for tilt table test. I pour drenching sweat when standing still upright in church or checkout lines a few minutes, start breathing heavily, lower legs and ankles swell and leg skin turns reddish like blood is pooled there. Often have absent radial or brachial pulse in either arm (unequal blood pressure in one arm compared to the other) and carotid bruit. Also cannot walk more than 5 minutes before I become short of breath, legs ache at the hip joint and I feel like I must sit down immediately or may faint.
Dr. said increase salt intake, wear compression stockings and when I feel this coming on, just sit down or lie down -- that there's no medication that can resolve this.
