Please review symptoms for similar experiences

I have been dealing with the following symptoms for approx. one year:

Tightness around my throat, anterior neck muscles
occassional numbness in my left cheek
a feeling of globus or phlegm constantly in my throat
mild dizziness
mild shortness of breath on occassion
general fatigue
a strong sensation of pressure in head, around my eyes and my neck

The most pronounced symptoms are the tightness in the throat area and the feeling of phlegm in the throat. They are with me 24 hours a day.

I am otherwise and have always been healthy. The only event that occurred around the time that the symptoms started was that I had to take the rabies vaccine series for exposure to a bat in July, 2003. The symptoms, while not painful, are very disturbing and have started to distract me almost constantly. I am also somewhat depressed because I have been to 2 neurologists and my regular family physician with no concrete diagnosis.
If anyone has experienced this or knows a good physician in the North Carolina area that you would recommend, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Re: Please review symptoms for similar experiences

I have had similiar symptoms for one year now, have had numerous tests and they came back negative. The doctors look at me like I am crazy - yet I still get facial numbness, head pressure, ears ringing, tightness in my throat and mild dizzyness.

I wish I had an answer for you...good luck..if you find out please let me know because I know how frustrating and depressing it can be.

Dear cedward,
If I where you I would see another medical doctor to check this out with proper tests. Ruling out any physical problem you should then look toward a Physc not a neurologist. A neurologist it primarily a pain doctor for diagnosible physical problems. You may be expreincing anxiety symptoms. Anxiety can cause you to expreince all of these symptoms and more. Just a suggestion from one the suffers from both physical and anxiety disorders. Good luck

Sincerely,

Sickman

Re: Please review symptoms for similar experiences

does it hurt/increase the discomfort when any of you talk. I've got a similar sounding condition but it feels like any vibrations in my throat exacerbate all of the symptoms and make my head and ears and throat even tighter and my back muscles sore....

No diagnosis yet for me either...

Re: Please review symptoms for similar experiences

I had the Rabies vaccine and now I have been sick for 2 months. My current symptoms are the same as yours (except I have some others as well). I would be interested in discussing with you what your going through. Thanks.

Re: Please review symptoms for similar experiences

My daughter was bitten by a rabid horse 1 year ago. We have been to doctor after doctor with no help with her condition. She experienced about 3 weeks into the vaccine series swollen tongue, lips and face. Every joint and muscle burning. A mysterious rash on her eye lids. Abdomial pain and heart burn, extremely tired, etc. I've done extensive research and have found facts on serum sickness and matching adverse conditions relating to the vaccine. Still the doctors look at us as if we're crazy. We had no choice but to receive the vaccine series but it makes me angry that no one, CDC, Adventis, and doctors will recognize these side effects. I am so glad I found this forum! I've felt quite alone in this whole thing. My daughter and I are off to a stomach specialist for the second visit now. He's saying maybe that the stress of the episode has set her system off. Please keep me posted as to your situation too.

Re: Please review symptoms for similar experiences

I have Lyme, Babesiosis, and Ehrlichiosis - tick borne infections. I have a lot of your symptoms and more.

Check out the lyme disease board here at healthboards. I saw 15+ doctors and had 4 tests for lyme before the last one came back positive.

There is an excellent infectious disease doctor who is lyme literate too in Huntersville, NC. Dr. Jemsek.

Good luck - better days ahead for you!

Re: rabies vaccine

is this vaccine preserved with mercury (thermasol) if so your daughter probably has mercury poisoning. my son who is autistic had a TD booster a few years ago. i dont know if mercury caused his autism or not but i was taking no chances. i asked doc 5 times if the booster had theramasol, and 5 times she said NO. the next day the school was calling my son was doing things he had done since he was toddler and even some new behaviors. he was lashing out, crying, would not talk to anyone, filtering light with his finger, walking on his toes, pacing and repeating same phrase over and over. he had no physcal symptoms. we were at a loss then i remembered that shot and went and got the package insert from the docs office. guess what first paragraph there it was THERMASOL. i was so mad. of course they said it was not booster but yet could not explain his new and relapsed behaviors. if this continues i would find a doctor who does chilation. never do this without a doctor they will know what is going on with her can make sure it is the problem and guide you throught it.

Re: Please review symptoms for similar experiences

I agree w/ sickman...anxiety can rule you for this amount of time. I think that after you got a vaccine for exposure to the bat your mind began having fears, kind of like "am I going to get rabies?" or "what if this didn't work for me?" or something of the sort...try to calm yourself down and get a variety of tests done.
Experience: I've had these symptoms many times I my answer was dehydration and anxiety. I hope that helps...
