Muscle Twitches and BFS - Neuromuscular Diseases Message Board

Two weeks ago I noticed my 2nd toe (after the big one) was feeling numb. It lasted for two days and I brushed it off as being the fact that I was just wearing new sandles. And my feet were elevated and slanted more than usual for many hours.

Last week my right eye lid started to twitch. It lasted almost a week.

As soon as the eye lid twich stopped I started noticing muscle twitches all over my body (leg, arm, buttocks, back etc...) The twitching would be apparent and continuous when I'd lied down for the night. I also just started getting body aches that would come and go (not necessarily where the twiching occured either). During the day the twitching would happen here and there but not often as the late evening when I am about to lay down to rest.

Then I started thinking back. I've had these muscle twiches for some time now (a few short months I think), but they were not really bothersome. I'd get one big lasting twitch in my leg (I could watch it and it was freaky) and then it would stop. Then it would happen a few days later in my arm. Basically I wasn't worried until now....because now I have the numb toe again, (although not as intense as last time) and the muscle twiches are more frequent.

Of course I've looked all over the internet to see what could be wrong with me. After reading everything I could on ALS, I am confident that I don't have ALS. More likely BFS.

I'd be interested in hearing if anyone out there has had twiching, numbness and aches like me?

i have been going through what you have for about 14 months now. mine started in my eyelids and then wham!! throughout my entire body. I went to my GP and then to two neurologist. They ran and EMG on me and put me through many test and came to the conclusion that i was OK. Of course i didn't believe them and then one day i just said whatever God has in store for me is there, whether i like it or not. Those first 12 months were the most depressing 12 months in my life. All that i could think about was ALS and how i didn't want to die at such a young age (28), but now i have coped with it and i hardly think of it anymore. All i do now is live one day at a time and thank God for every second that i have with my family. I really believe this whole ordeal has made me a better person. Good Luck to you. I think you are fine. Oh yeah, i do have aches and pains all over some days. One day i will feel fine and then other days, pains here and there.
