Thumb pain and quivering
My daughter who is 23 began to show symptoms of tendinitis in her hands 5 1/2 years ago. Her most recent frustration is with her right thumb.
During the past two months of finishing up college, she has probably typed more than normal and thus has used her right thumb even more for the space bar. (It is her common practice to use only her right thumb for spacing.) Lately the pain in her thumb has been so severe that she even experiences pain when she is at rest and not using her hand. Even at night when she is trying to sleep, she feels the pain originating in her right back (shoulder blade) and spreading down her forearm to her thumb.
For the past couple of years she has noticed that even at times when she is not at the keyboard, if she bends her right thumb, it quivers. When her thumb is in its weakened state, any type of grasping in her thumb will bring on pain. Lately, she canít fix her hair, cook for herself, drive, etc.!
She is wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar and how they have successfully overcome the weakness and pain. Thanks ahead of time!
