Dysesthesia/Allodynia. - Neuromuscular Diseases Message Board

To whom it may concern,

After 5 long years i have finally been diagnosed. I am suffering from a form of Dysesthesia and/or Allodynia. My problem is I always have "cold and pain sensations", with goosebumps all over my whole body. I get so cold, my whole body is in pain from it, this is when the days are cold, i freeze while i am wearing clothes but i feel better when i take my clothes off, (relief from pain) my body feels more normal when i'm not wearing any clothing or when i'm in the shower but as soon as i prepare for my day and get dressed the feeling i feel is of coldness and pain feelings come over me in about 5mins time. I've had this problem for a few years and nothing i try seems to work.
I am a student at University and it very difficult to concentrate in class while feeling cold and painful all the time. I have seen and had tests from many medical profesionals including, a councilor, phyciatrist, hypnotheropist, skin & cancer foundation, naturapath, neuorologist and Acupuncturist. As you see i've tried heaps of angles to deal with my problem and i am wondering if anybody could help me or give me some insight or advice on how i can become free of this feeling i have.
Are there any others that feel this way. I want to know how to manage this because it is really crippling my life.

I see you have no replies yet..so i will put in my thoughts here...I used to feel the same way that you do . I had a Low Thryiod problem. It takes a simple blood test to check that out. But i warn you to request the extensive test if you don't they will do a simple one and it can be wrong. They told me .....well it is useually right. NOT So!~ Also, they have to know what medications you are takeing because, that can alter your thryiod gland production. Another note...i even got a second lab test done'''because of mistakes done at one paticular lab. a few times before. It is worth all of the trouble. I promise. Gives back energy that you are supposed to have and i lost 50 lbs from over wieght. But 'my' thryiod was too low...now yours could be too high. You may have already done this. I mention it anyway because, not all doctors believe that thryiod level is all that improtant!~ Trust me it is. I got my children with the medication after many years of not able to with out it. That stuff works on endless things in your body. Whatever is the problem, may God bless you with the help you need, amen, hugs

Hi mrsash36yrs,

Thank you so much for your concern and time.

I hadn't known about an extensive test being available for testing Thyroids. I have had a few simple tests at different labs, but it still showed as being within normal range. I will ask my doctor for this extensive test.

Are you 100% better now, how long have you felt that way? What do you think caused it? If you don't mind can you please reply to me. Thanks in advance.

I have had this for over 5 years now and it is really crippling my life. I've seen many specialists and had many tests and they were all dumb founded. I am not taking any medication at the moment, I am currently receiving Acupuncture twice a week for the last two months but still no change.
