I am a 21 year old male who was diagnosed with brachial neuritis last august. After severe pain for a few weeks in my left shoulder I experienced severe weakening of that shoulder and atrophy of the supraspinatus. The severe pain subsided, but I am still experiencing low pain and soreness in the left shoulder. I tried physical therapy for a while to try and regain some of the muscle, but it did nothing. At the advice of my orthopedist this past March, I recieved surgical treament in which he made an incision, removed the muscle and traced the suspected nerve up the shoulder to find if it was still compressed anywhere. He found nothing during the procedure but told me that the nerve could have possibly freed through the operation before he had a chance to see it. I have continued with physical therapy since the surgery but am still not having any results, and it seems that my orthopedic has given up telling me "you'll have to deal with the weak shoulder and we'll call it a traction injury". So... I have heard about and considered different methods of treatment but have not tried them yet as a result of some skepticism and was wondering if someone could advise me on the effectivness or ineffectivness of the following treatments, or suggest other types of treaments that might benefit my situation. The types of treaments I have considered are transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, Chiropractic therapy, and acupuncture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
