I am a 41 year old male from Ireland. My eye lids started drooping in 1992 and in 1996 I was checked out by an eye specialist in Dublin but at that time the muscle biopsy was inconclusive. After the symptoms worsened I went back for a second investigation and I was diagnosed with CPEO in 2005.
My left eyelid is now closed all the time and my right eyelid is 50% closed.
Two years ago I developed an irregular heartbeat. I am taking beta blockers and they have stopped the palpitations and breathlessness.
Tiredness has become a major issue for me and I am not sure if this is caused by the CPEO or a side effect of the Beta blockers or a combination of both.
I am interested in learning if anyone else with CPEO has developed an irregular heart beat? and if so what treatment they are receiving?.
Also I would love to hear from any other Irish person who has been diagnosed with CPEO.
