For about a month now I have had numbness, tingling and hypersensitivity at times in my legs from mid calf to my waist. I was in the hospital for 4 days and they drew every test imaginable. I've had two emgs both negative, an mri of thoracic and cervical with nothing remarkable. I've had a ct scan of the brain. Nothing found. I'm 31 yrs old and I find myself falling frequently because the strength in my legs is gone. When I get up from my couch I have to rollover and do a push up to be able to stand because my legs won't work to get me up. I am now using a walker/wheelchair to ambulate. There is decreased sensation at skin level and pain in the muscles with what feels like electric bolts that jerk my legs every so often throughout the day. The doctors started me on gabapentin which has not helped and cymbalta which they say is for nerve pain too. So far nothing is working. I have taken a leave from work and am not sure where to go next for help. Since the doctors couldn't find anything on the tests they have suggested conversion disorder which I believe is a catch all for when they don't know what is going on. Has anyone experienced this before?

Hi Kim, I've had servere muscle and nerve problems also, and have been Dxed with Mitochondrial Cytopathy fromt he local MDA clinic. I was 50 when it started over night, and has progressed over the last 10 years, with many things now happening, but the Muscular Dystrophy Association really helped me a lot. If your not seeing a good neurologist, get one and it would help if they are known for their Dxing skills. Good luck and take care. Randy
