topomax - Neuropathy Message Board

I'm now upping my duragesic patch to 100 mg, and the doctor wants to add topomax to the mix (for nerve pain). Anyone had any experience with topomax, good or bad, and at what dosage did you notice any difference in pain?

i am pretty new and not sure if i am posting right, but i have been taking topamax for about a year now. i was put on it for severe cluster migraines. i had tried nuerontin unsuccessfully in the past. i am now in the position that i am trying them together. topomax helps with many things... plus it helps with appetite control and keeping weight down helps foot pain. i dropped a bunch of weight on it. and it got my migraines under control. i have a cervical fusion with plate from c3-c7. newly added cidp. i think topamax is a great med. plus it doesn't negatively effect libido. hope it is good for you.

I was on topamax for nerve pain - on it for 6 weeks and I finally got good pain control at 75 mg twice a day. But after one week at that dose I got an allergic rash and I had to stop taking it. Side effects were sleepiness, weight loss!, some tingling - I could not drink soda, coffee or alcohol they just tasted bad - no loss. There was also some brain fog, but it was getting better as I adjusted. I wish I could still take it, just starting Zonegran now.

i took topomax 2 years ago with a very bad result vomiting everymorning for at least an hour and a half untill their was nothing left. it starts out as one 25 mil grm pill then it goes to 2 untill you no longer have the symptoms of what ever you have, my neurologist was wrong to perscribe this because i had gillian-barre not a bylateral neuropathy.
