Seeking your help. - Neuropathy Message Board

48 year old woman here, otherwise healthy, have had "buzzing" in my legs and feet with weakness for about a year. Recently had an EMG that reported, among other things, "Normal tibial H-relfex latency with reduced amplitude bilaterally. Impression: Mildly abnormal study. The reduction in tibial h-reflex amplitude bilaterially is consistent with a very early, probably asymptomatic sensory plyneuropathy. There is no evidence of lumbar motor rediculopathy in either lower extremity."

I don't know anything about anything here. Will be getting an appointment with a neurologist at one of the big city hospitals, but until then would like to hear it straight from anyone who knows anything. I realize you aren't doctors here, but your experience is valuable.

glad to hear you have been able to have some tests done, and are on the road to seeing a neurologist. this is good!
the info you set out in your post was apparently from the test report, right?
well, it looks like they are thinking you have polyneuropathy. if you do (and the neurologist is the only one who can really say), this means "inflammation of many nerves." this condition is common for patients who are overweight, diabetic, or are experiencing other metabolic, etc. problems.
the main thing is to find out the cause of the symptoms, and from there a plan of handling the pain, etc. can be set forth. while there is not really a cure for this condition, there are medications that can control the pain. there is physical therapy, advice on weight control, etc. as well.
don't let yourself worry too much! you have already done the hard thing and the good thing by having these difficult tests and making the appointment to see a doctor who may know more about your condition. keep taking good care of yourself!
