jan 10 i had a nerve graph on my right leg. it was the peroneal nerve. it was injured from a football injury and i have had drop foot ever since. i was wandering if anyone has had this surgery and if they knew about how long it would take to get feeling and movement back into my foot. the doctor told me from now till a year. the did two graphs. one for feeling and one for motor movement.

How long ago did you have the injury? I also have foot drop (oct 15, 03).
Nerve grafting wasn't offered as an option. The only option I was given was a postertier tibial tendon transfer which would only keep the foot in a 90 degree angle. Will you still have to wear a brace? If so, how long?

well i had it done jan 10 2005. Im now walking good. i had the injury april 17 2004. the doctors say that i shouldnt have to wear a brace that is if the nerve comes back. but if it doesnt then i will have to have a muscle transfer.

so if you had a nerve injury, did you ever regain anyhting? do you have the ability to feel things on the top of your foot? and if not, then was the transfer able to bring the feeling back?? how did you injure your leg??

I've not had any surgery. I don't have any feeling on the top of my foot and up the side of my leg. I injured it when I slipped in the lobby of the hospital on my way to cardiac rehab. Had a heart attack on July 8, 03 and on Sep 15, 03 I slipped and dislocated my knee, tore the ACL/LCL/PCL, broke the fibula which tore the peroneal nerve. I had 2 EMG's which indicate no regeneration. I have to wear an AFO 24/7. I am now the proud (ugh) owner of SIX foot braces. None of which can stop the nerve pain. I was told I needed to give the nerve 18 months before having the postertier tibial tendon transfer. That surgery would not repair the nerve but only lock the foot in a 90 degree angle.
What does the muscle transfer do?
