Topomax for Neuropathy - Neuropathy Message Board

This is my first time to post. I was diagnosed about 3 years ago. Went to a Nerve and muscle specialist in Houston and he took me off of Neurontin and put me on Topomax. I take 4 25 mg. tabs in a.m. and 4 25 mg. in p.m. He says I have a mild case. I'm not a diabetic. This man is suppose to be a specialist but I see him for maybe 2 minutes and he's out the door. Does anyone know of a Neurologists that specializes in Neuropathy in Houston area?

I dont know of a doc in your area ,but i am on topamax for neuropathy..You are taking 200 mgs a day?
I am on 125 MGS ,but about to go up...
I have been on it for a while already and find i am burnng in the afternoon..
I wish you luck in finding a new doc!

I too am on topamax,mine is for TN, I take 300 mg in the am and 300 mg in the pm (600 mg per day)

How have the side effects of topomax been. I'm thinking of trying this drug and am wondering what to expect and what's worth persisting through.

Sorry it took so long to reply, haven't been on computer, it had problems too. I really haven't had any side effects from Topomax that I can tell. He told me it should help me lose weight but that hasn't happened. I am having more leg cramping sometimes in the evenings but it isn't consistent. The thing that really bothers me about our disease is you never hear anyone talk about it on Oprah or anywhere else and it sure seems like there are alot of people that have it. I just hope and pray they come up with a cure before long. I have too much I want to do in my life to have to worry about this stupid pain in my feet.
