I am familiar with type 1, 1.5 and LADA but of course I fall very short of knowing it all. I too don't know what you are referring to. Quick Guggle search brings information that appears to be saying that is related to general health but saw nothing special about diabetes.
PN is often caused by diabetes. All types can do it. But neuropathy pain is worse at night. Reading this board you will see people using Neurontin and few say it helps. It didn't help me at all. A few are using Tegretol, also without help. Neurontin has unpleasant side effects. Tegretol is a different critter but it doesn't usually help either. But tegretol side effects for me and some others that I have talked to has horrible side effects. It takes months for that to start to clear and some are permanently left with side effects. What it did to me was eliminate my memory system, (or pretty near), messed up my balance to the extent that I had to hold onto something to stand and could not balance with anything in my hands. I was so shakey that nothing I wrote was readable. But worst of all it messed up my thinking to the extent that I didn't realize what was happening to me. These are anti-seizure medications and sometimes I see people with seizure are benefiting from it.
The only medication that has helped me is Elavil. Others use this too. It too is used for seizures. At first it made me sleepy but since I have sleep problems, especially when in pain that effect is welcome. I take it only when going to bed. I hope you find something that helps
