any one taking lyrica - Neuropathy Message Board

my podriatrist just rx lyrica to me the first part of march and i just started taking the meds had to wait for them in the mail now i am on 75 mg 2 x a day i dont feel as though these wordk as well as the neurotin has anyone taken these with results how long does it take for them to really start working i feel like i am back to the way it was before the neurotin and am seroiusly thinking of stopping these and going back to the neurotin any suggestions

I just started Lyrica this week so it's hard to tell if I've had any improvement. I'm also on 75 mg. twice a day but my MD said this is a very low starting dose and he will increase it weekly, so maybe that is why you are not having any improvement yet.

I have to say I think my pain is a little better and more importantly, my mood seems to have improved, making it easier to deal with the pain. No side effects so far, but MD said there shouldn't be any at this low dose. This is my first medication so I have nothing to compare it to. Let me know how you do.

My husband just started taking Lyrica last week. His Neurologist started him on 50 mg a day for 30 days then he is to increase to 75 mg a day. The doctor told him it would take about 3 weeks to see any benefit.
I would give it a couple of weeks before I would stop using the medicine.
This drug is suppose to be much better than the Neurotin.

Hi delrae

I'm new to this board, I usually post on the Back Problem board. However, I do have nerve pain because of a rutured lumbar disc. I had a fusion surgery on 1/26 and was taking Neurontin before and after. I had to increase my dose recently so yesterday my doctor switched me to Lyrica 150mg twice a day, I don't feel it's working as well yet. But I have notices that I am VERY SLEEPY, I can hardly keep my eyes open. I fall asleep in the middle of conversations and while on the computer. How are you doing with Lyrica?

my dr said that the side effects would be less with the lyrica but i find i am a lot more sleepy with lycria then i was with the neurotin and really i havent notice any change for the better with the lyrica over the neurotin so i am not sure what to think .
