I'm so sorry you are in so much pain. Have you been referred to a pain clinic or pain management doctor? You didn't say what type of pain medications you are taking (or have tried) but it may be you need a stronger longer acting medication. The usual opoids (such as those given after surgeries) work very short term, as they are meant to do. The bosy also quickly gets used to them, making them ineffective. But there are other medications that last much longer and are can be taken for longer terms, under a controlled environment.

Also, do you live anywhere near one of the neurology centers attached to universities? They may be more equipped to care for a patient with multiple conditions and have better options for you.

I have been going to a neurology center for over ten years, they have me controled more than any doctor has for my seizures and they said there was nothing they can do, that they haven't already for my neuropathy. There are stronger meds for the pain but because of my epilepsy there no way I can take it. I haven't went to a pain management clinic yet. Because I am afraid they will mess up. I am under controled (seizure) more than I have been in 36 years. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ANSWER MY EMAIL

You might want to try a pain management clinic just to hear what options they have. Pain clinics are very familiar with patients who have multiple issues. They also can use a variety of methods both medicinal and otherwise. It could be that a sustained release pain medication is available which will help you.

Also, studies have been conducted for neuropathy pain and some are already being used in pain clinics. Dextromethorphan is one of these. Yes, it is the same thing you see in Robitussin cough medicine but at a different level. This medication has shown quite a bit of promise for neuropathy pain.

And you can read some of the posts on this board to see what others have tried and maybe there is something that would help you. Please post any time you need to. The support can help too. Keep us updated.

I just went to my doctor and I have small tumor on my left foot, I am going to the hospital this week for some test, then go from there. He is going to set me up for appointment with a pain clinic to. Thank you for all of your advice, it means a lot to me. Lonnie
