Neuroathy - could this be me?

I have begun to notice a tingling in my right foot - not the left. I first noticed this about 3 weeks ago, at which time, my doctor prescribed a leg exercise.

This worked, and I was free of this symptom for over two weeks, at which time I was on vacation. He also suggested that I change my shoes, which I did.

Yesterday while at home, I felt it once more. However, when I sat on the bed, leg elevated, it went away.

What is going on here? I am deathly frightened about neuropathy. My father died in agony with this disease. At the very end, his feet swelled up all black and the doctors wanted to cut them off (he died before this happened).

He lived in excruciating pain for many years. And no, he didn't have diabetes. I am very frightened.

Can you please help me?

Re: Neuroathy - could this be me?

hi.....I'M SORRY ABOUT YOUR TINGLING BUT LET ME ASSURE YOU THAT
IN THIS DAY AND AGE, THERE ARE MEDICATIONS WHICH WOULD ALMOST
TOTALLY ALLEVIATE YOUR PAIN. SOME OF THEM WERE AROUND WHEN
YOU DAD WAS ALIVE. DOCTORS STRIVE NOT TO MEDICATE PEOPLE
WHEREAS THEY MIGHT BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO BECOMING ADDICTED TO THEM,
IE, RUSH LIMBAGH. BUT ONE HAS TO PUT ONE'S FOOT DOWN WHEN IT
COMES TO PAIN AND I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOUR DAD EXPERIENCED
PAIN WISE SINCE I HAVE HAD THE SAME PN FOR ABOUT 12 YEARS OR MORE.

AT THIS POINT IN YOUR LIFE, I WOULD NOT AUTOMATICALLY LEAP AT THE
CONCLUSION YOU HAVE PN. TRUE, TINGLING IS THE ONSET OF THAT
DISEASE BUT IT IS ALSO THE ONSET OF MANY OTHERS. YOU SAY THAT
THE TINGLING IS HELPED BY RAISING YOUR LEG. WELL, IT IS THE
OPPOSITE FOR MOST PN SUFFERERS. MANY MUST SLEEP IN A CHAIR
SO THAT THEIR LEGS ARE NOT RAISED IN ORDER TO CATCH A FEW
Z....S.

AGAIN, YOUR INTENSE WORRY ABOUT PN IS UNWARRENTED AT THIS STAGE
IT MIGHT HAVE JUST BEEN A QUIRK.

I AM NOW MOSTLY PAIN FREE, TAKING A FEW STRONG MEDICINES
SUCH AS AMTRYPILINE AND DILAUDID.

I WISH YOU THE BEST.....WOONDOG
