hi all .. ive been having twitching and tingling some numbness and burning sensations.. is als and neuropathy the same thing?? someone told me neuropathy is another word for als..is this true.. if its not then whats the difference and how do you tell.. thanx in advance

Neuropathy affects the nervous system where as ALS (Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis affects your muscles.

Sorry to hear of your pain[s] and associated symptoms. There are different diagnostic tests for neuropathy and als, and as someone else pointed out, very different diseases. Your primary doc should refer you to a neurologist for testing. Both diseases are rough, but ALS is certainly far worse, so you should try to find out as soon as you can, if you have a PN you might have a type that responds to treatment. Best of luck to you.
