Exercising the area, not to the extreme just gentle execises. Naproxen(Alieve) and Ibuprofen(Advil) are good medicines for flare-ups. Heat is another good thing that helps, especially moist heat.

Re: What can I do....

Thank you, but I have done all that and it is still bothering me. I even wear a brace to keep my wrist from moving around and it still hurts.

Re: What can I do....

Then this could be a more serious problem than you think so the best thing is to let a specialist look at it. I have issues with my wrists but that is due to nerve damage and arthritis. They don't bother me all the time but when the weather changes it does especially when it turns cold. The onset of cold weather make them and my hands worse, my hands get so bad I can hardly write. I take Celebrex for the arthritis but for me sometimes asprin helps me just as much and just resting them. I hope it nothing no more serious than maybe arthritis. Is there a possibility you could have carpal tunnel sydrome in your wrist? There is a board for this condition under General Health. Also, could you possibly have a cyst on your wrist? In some cases this can be dealt with without surgery. There is a medicine that they used to give for this called Anapox(sp?) is it's not too serious. My ex-husand got one of this yrs ago and that's what they gave him and it cleared it right up.

On Dec. 27, I will be seeing a specialist. My arm around my elbow is swollen and on the side of my arm.

I'm glad to hear you have an appt. and don't have to wait too long to get in. I'm also sorry to hear that you elbow is swollen. I hope it gets better soon.

Re: What can I do....

Well I just got back from the doctor and he gave me Naproxen 500mg. He told me that he would be suprised if the doctor I am seeing on the 27th wanted to do surgery. He would not be surprised if I got another Cortizone shot or told me there was nothing else they could do for me.

Re: What can I do....

That sounds like good news. Is the Naproxen helping you any?

That don't sound good, maybe the swelling is being caused by the medication. I think you need to call your doctor and let him know that you hand has started swelling up.

Re: What can I do....

Well I went to the drs today and he told me that he was going to see if my main doctor would do a MRI, just to see if that shows something they missed. What could a MRI show? Than depending on that the next thing would be surgery since nothing else is working. What would surgery do for tendinitis? How would the surgery fix the tendinitis?

Re: What can I do....

It would should if there's any tendon or ligament damage. Which still doesn't mean surgery, like it me it was just a slight tear in the tendon and they gave me a shot for it.

Do you remember what kind of shot? If it is cortisone (sp?) than I have already had 2 of those and it seemed to work only for a week. Do you think they could put me in a cast so than I am forced not to use my arm until it heals?

Re: What can I do....

I wish I could remember what the name was but it has been over 4 yrs since then. I do know it wasn't cheap. I know there's also several different types of arthritis shots like Enbrel and Humeria that are given and they're expensive too. Have you tried puting a wrist brace on it, like the ones you can buy at Wal-Mart or certain drug stores? If not, try that and see if it will help until you see a doctor. They also make one of those hot patches now that can fit on your hand and wrist which applies heat to the area.

Thank you for the good idea but I have been doing this since I hurt myself, and it only helps a little. Do you think they would be able to cast my arm? It is also starting to hurt on the top of my hand. Could this be from nerve damage or something else?
