Re: i have nerve damage in my foot what can i do
hi there i will try and explain in as much detail as i can. About 3 yrs ago i had an operation to fuse my big toe joint as i had arthritis and a bunion, but ever since i had it done i have been in constant pain with it, so i went back to the hospital to see if they could find out why, first of all they done a bone scan which indicated that around the operation site it was still hot and active, they told me it could be that the op was not a success or it could be the pins they said they could take the pins out but there would be no guarantee that i would be pain free. then on january 5th 2008 i went for my pre op and the consultant said its a possibility that i am suffering with nerve damage in my foot so there would be no guarantee that i would be pain free, on the 12th january i went in to have the pins taken out but they said they could only get 1 of the pins out as the other one was too far buried into the bone and it would of meant them having to break the bone which could of caused more problems. so i still have 1 of the pins still in my foot and still have the nerve damage which means i cannot stand on my foot for long periods at a time as it gets painful and it swells up. what i need to know is am i going to be like this for the rest of my life or is there anything else i can do as i would really like to go back to work but because of this i am unable to do this. many thanks for listening and i would appreciate anybody that has got any advice for me.
