numbness of finger
I accidentally caught my wedding band on a ledge and pulled with full body force not realizing until it was too late that I had caught my ring. It pulled against my first finger joint closest to my hand and caused the most excrutiating and long lasting pain I ever recall feeling. (I was in labor with my first child for three days). It has now been 36 hours and my finger is still extremely tingly with severe numbness the closer I test to the tip. If I put pressure against the lower first joint, it send severe tingling sensations all the up to the top of my finger. The joint is sligthly swollen. Because the pain was so intense, I forced my wedding band off of my finger and put a skinny band on which now would be difficult to take off.
I obviously did some sort of damage to the nerve(s). The question are: is it permanent or temporary and do I need to go see a specialist?
