Question Brachial Plexus Palsy after bursitis

I had bursitis a few months ago and received a cortisone shot. My doctor now feels that I have brachial plexus palsy because my shoulder and arm have lost muscle. He says that it could have been the bursitis or the shot that did some damage to the brachial plexus and will take some time to return to normal. He also tells me that it comes from a viral infection. Anyone have answers for me?
