Unhappy Re: Persistent Flank Pain on Right Side

I wrote back in January that I have been experiencing this pain. It is now the middle of March and I still have no answers.

I have had:
CT Scan
Xray with upper GI and dye
Ultrasound
Endoscopy with biopsy
10 different blood tests for kidneys, pancreas, infections, inflammation etc.

The pain is still present each and everyday, sometimes feels like food makes it worse but not always. It is mostly on the right side but can be on the left as well. The one constant is that it hurts the most while standing up and I get relief for about half an hour after a hot shower.

Just wanting to know if anyone can shed some light from the early years of this post. Any updates at all??

Re: Persistent Flank Pain on Right Side

Dear All,

I suffer from the same symptoms as many have posted here. Mine originated back in October 2011. I have had my gall bladder removed in 2007. I have had all sorts of blood work, urinalysis, CT scans, x-rays, and a couple MRI's, physical therapy, chiropractic therapy, and massage therapy, none of which has helped. Take narcotics but they only help me mentally accept the pain.

Questions:

Does Sexual intercourse increase pain? - Yes for me

Does riding horse increase pain? - yes for me

Does Dancing increase pain? - yes for me

Pain cause nausea?

Gall bladder removed?

Have trouble passing gas and PAINFUL? - I find that I have to get on all four and stick my butt in the air, and even then it's hard to get it out - this makes me avoid eating...

Hurt to breathe sometimes?

Pain increased by bending at the waist and/or twisting?

Does anyone have pain in their spine right where the lumbar and Thoracic come together? even lightest touch gives you a vomiting reflex. Sometimes with every step I take I feel like I am going to throw up.

Driving feel like there's pressure on your organs on the right side and cause pain and discomfort? - yes for me

Also, I have tingling down right leg, middle toe and 4th toe on both feet will turn completely white.

I experience heart palpitations - had tests done and all was norm.

I also get dizzy, lose eye sight and sense of awareness, even if I am just stretching arms in a sitting position - this is not all the time however.

About the same time that I developed these right flank symptoms I had a frequency to urinate even if it was just a little amount, getting an ultrasound on my bladder was horrendous but all checked out with UTI, kidneys, and bladder infection.

Just wondering if any of my symptoms are also experience by any of you?

-Molly

Re: Persistent Flank Pain on Right Side

PS i think they should get us all together and do a bunch of testing and figure out what the hell this is!!! I'd let them cut me up as long as they'd sew me back up! it's ridiculous that we are all living like this with NO ANSWERS!!!! I will say that I don't work anymore because it caused me TOO MUCH PAIN and that has helped my pain level so consider changing your employment to help the pain.

Re: Persistent Flank Pain on Right Side

After reading this entire thread, this is what I have. Burning pain that started under my left armpit and radiates along the T5 nerve front to back in a line. Only on left side for first - 10 years. Then, out of the blue I get hit with the same burning pain along the nerve that runs from my belly button to my back on the right side over the last 6 years! So, I was seen by every Dr. under the sun and have tried about everything to get relief. I was long ago diagnosed with riduclopathy of the nerve routes from spinal compression. I have had trigger point injections, epidurals, and been on Gabepentin (Neurontin) for around 13 years. I also take Cymbalta and the combination of the two does help a lot, but doesn't alleviate the pain. The pain is absolutely made worse after eating hot bannana peppers or jalepenas and it also hurts worse (burns/aches) when I take too much Tylenol or Advil. I believe it may have first arisen after taking Cipro for a sinus infection. Any see any correlations with the foods and/or Cipro that might give us a clue why the pain is arising in the first place? I also had a 3 cm Bosniak IIF cyst (benign) removed from my kidney and it made no difference in my pain.

I feel like very greasy or fatty fried food can make my pain feel much much worse. Sometimes I feel like even some juice can make it feel worse. VERY INTERESTING to note is that I was also on CIPRO for a week and this is when I first started to notice the pain...wow you flashed my memory back to that.
