Re: Surgery for Foot drop - nerve replacement

I got foot drop from my second lower back spinal fusion. I was told it may 'wake' back up over time. Two and a half years later, I still cannot lift my left toes off the ground if I am standing up. I wish there was a surgery to fix this... I would love to be able to wear high heels again. Flats just don't go with formal gowns, etc. Hope you get some relief.

Re: Surgery for Foot drop - nerve replacement

Had 2 surgeries for a very bad drop foot caused by a severed peroneal nerve at the knee. Right after each surgery (one at the ankle, one at the knee), it hurt like hell. But the surgeries were well worth it, and the nurses handled my pain pretty well. One caveat (although this may apply only to my particular foot drop)--I still have a severe drop foot. But the surgeries got me out of a horrible leg brace, and they were well worth it. I wish you very good luck.

I believe the recovery time for each surgery was approximately 6 weeks.

Do you feel like your dragging your leg when walking? I have foot drop and they are still trying to find out the cause. Right now I wear a AFO to help with walking.
