Post Do any of you have numbness that comes and goes?

I have this (and tingling)in both hands, all fingers, part of my upper back, my left foot and leg. If you have been dx'd with something, what do you have and how do you cope with it?
Barb

Cool

Hi
I have this as part of my problem It was diagnosed as part of diabetic neuropathy. Not sure if it is exactly related or not. I have several nerve problems and other pain issues. But the pain and numbness that comes and goes is quite frustrating in the hands. They usually go that way when I use them with utensils. like a Fork, Knife or a pen. It goes away after a while if I let it go. The problem I have is treated with meds and that helps to make it more bearable.

Yes. I have been to the doctor. He says it's mostly because I'm overweight. I also have hypothyroidism. I have a herniated disc in my cervical spine that is protruding into the left neural foramen. That could explain some of the numbness and tingling. But the rest is baffling me. I have been this weight for quite some time. And most of these symptoms are fairly new. My doctor used to blame all my problems on smoking until I quit. Now he blames the weight although I don't doubt that it can play a part in this. He doesn't want to do any tests (HMO). The only reason I know about the c-spine is my doctor from work ordered an MRI. I'm just frustrated with all this stuff.

I understand that I would see about changing your primary care dr and get some testing for the neuropathy like a emg/nct most neuropathy stats with the back anyway my dr has never said anything about it being because im overweight and I am.

Hi Delrae, I had an EMG done on both arms last year. The left one was just to have something to compare with the right arm. Actually, the #'s on the left arm around the elbow (which is the nerve that is the problem in my right arm) were just a couple off the one on the right arm. I don't know. I think I won't have any insurance soon because my job has been threatening me and I think they finally did it yesterday. I think they consider me "voluntarily seperating from the company" as they put it. Oh well. Maybe now I'll have the chance to work on getting well. I hope you're feeling well.
