Spinal Cord Stimulator - Neuropathy Message Board

Hi Barb, I just opened the computer to ask if anyone knew about or had used the Spinal Cord Stimulator. What a coincidence to read your note. I was told about a year ago by my neurologist and pain management doctors to consider the S.C.Stimulator. I have had, for years peripheral neuropathy which causes me lots of pain in my feet. I take narcotic pain medication which I really don't like to do but it helps. I'll be anxious to hear of someone who has actually has the Spinal Cord Stimulator in place. I do not have diabetics. My neuropathy has come from Sjogren's
Syndrome. Vi

Thanks for the info....maybe between the two of us we will get some kind of an answer from someone who has used the stimulator. I am not too keen on having it done. I was told today that one of the top neurologists in NYC is getting the Anondyne System in and I am going to try that one first. I know that had most success from neuropathy caused by diabetes but if it helps me ( diabetic ) I will still let you know. Believe me...I will shout it from the roof tops. LOL

My doctors will not give me narcotics....wish they would for the really bad times..once got them from podiatrist when I really complained. But I really do hate to take them also. You just need more and more and the percacet sometimes just made me sick to my stomach. Take care

Hi I have a spinal cord stimulator.

I have reflex sympathetic dystrophy, which is a very painfull nerve disorder. I have rsd in my arm and both legs and feet.

The stimulator has been a god send. I have had many treatments for RSD and so many meds, nothing helped. The stimulator was my last hope.

I had the trial first and it was a sucess so I went ahead and got it permanently implanted.

I get excellent relief in my legs and feet. I can finally get some sleep. The stimulator puts a tingling sensation where the pain is.

If you want to know more I will be more then glad to answer your questions.

Thanks for answering. I have the type of Neuropathy that you get the tightness in the ankles and feet all the time. The pain that I get is almost like a labor pain that gets to a peak and then fades a bit. It can be in various parts of the feet and calves. Sometimes both feet at one time. It is worse at night and therefore sleep stinks...when you do get to sleep. Does the stimulator take away that tightness or is it only for the worst pains. Does it take away the pain enough to get off Neurontin? Thanks so much for any information you can give.
